Another hard day at work--it's 10:00 am and I have successfully e-mailed a couple of people. But it's not always like this, really! For ALTs, me and Matt (the English gentleman I work with) are relatively busy, teaching 18 and 20 hours a week, respectively. When the schedule is normal, which admittedly it is often not. For those who may have forgot (Brooke), I teach 15-18 year olds at a commercial high school, meaning they study in one of several tracks, such as bookkeeping, accounting, information tech, and international communication (English and Chinese). My school is 80 % girls. High school sounded intimidating to me at first, but as they are all at least a head shorter than me and have to wear cute uniforms, the intimidation factor is reduced. Running across them in town is a different story, however... I often don't recognize my students immediately through the makeup, funkified hair, and wild outfits they favor for going out.
Valentine's Day yesterday was better than expected! Danielle organized a pizza-making party in her huge kitchen (God bless Jonathan, she said). It turns out we are all excellent pizza chefs. The only exception to this was Kimiko's seaweed and mayonnaise pizza idea.
